Environment: Ensuring a greener, cleaner future for Canada’s children

Environment

Ensuring a greener, cleaner future for Canada’s children

Humankind’s survival has always been deeply intertwined with the environment. Climate change, greenhouse gas emissions, food, water and energy depletion are all critical issues that demand our urgent attention.

The Benefaction Environmental Portfolio is committed to preserving Canada’s natural heritage and supporting globally significant ecosystems by investing in programs that promote a diverse, healthy and sustainable natural environment for future generations to enjoy.

Purpose

To support programs and services that ensure a healthier global ecosystem with an emphasis on protecting and enhancing Canada’s natural assets

Key Initiatives

• Conservation of ecologically significant land across all Canadian regions.
• Ensuring the long-term survival of Canada’s plant and animal species and their habitats.
• Naturalization projects dedicated to injecting green back into Canada’s urban landscapes.
• Protecting and restoring bio-diverse ecosystems in Canada and globally.
• Exploring ways to reduce pollution and wasteful consumption.

Nature Conservancy of Canada

www.natureconservancy.ca

Nature ConservancyThe Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC), Canada’s leading national land conservation organization, is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to protecting Canada’s priority natural areas through land securement, science and stewardship. Since 1962, NCC has helped conserve over two million acres of ecologically significant land all across Canada with a focus on the 10% of land along the Canada-US border where biodiversity is the most threatened. NCC continues to explore ways to ensure the long-term survival of Canada’s plant and animal species and the natural ecosystems that they—and we—depend upon.
