Services for Charities & Non Profits

Benefaction is pleased to offer its services to charitable and non-profit organizations that may choose to establish a Donor Advised Fund (DAF)  with us.  A DAF is a flexible and cost-effective vehicle to house your fund.  You raise donations and, we’ll do the rest!

Benefits

  • Professional Administration and Management of Funds.  Our Investment Manager partners and our Investment Management Committee help to ensure maximum profitability.
  • Administrative Support (fund management, tax receipting, fund reporting)
  • Sophisticated Donor Relations -  we are equipped to handle complex philanthropic transactions such as gifts of appreciated securities, life insurance, and bequests.
  • Increase your impact - you can establish your own donation web page to send emails to your donors and prospects asking them to donate to your charity. When your friends join using that link, you will be able track how much has been raised and print out a report with your progress.  So you’re not only doing good for your cause, but you’re also increasing your chances of making a significant difference through your charity.
  • Affordable Administration - enjoy virtually the same benefits as running your own donor advised fund program, but at substantially lower cost and with none of the administrative burden.

We handle the workload and worries associated with a donor advised fund program so you can spend more time on your organization’s mission.

Getting Started

If you are a registered Canadian charity and can donate the minimum of $25,000 to get started, consider a donor advised fund

Donor Advised Funds

Funds are established by charitable organizations as permanent funds to ensure an ongoing source of support for their programs and operations.  Your organization transfers ownership of the fund to Benefaction Foundation under agreement and a minimum of 3.5% is distributed to the charitable organization in perpetuity.  Of course, the your organization might use the fund to grow capital for a major project.  In this case, the annual disbursement would be greater.  You decide.

How It Works

Your charitable organization creates a Donor Advised Fund at Benefaction Foundation. The fund is owned by Benefaction Foundation, but the grants and disbursements are directed to your charitable organization. Your donors can make contributions to the fund through your organization directly or through Benefaction Foundation.

Advantages

By setting up a DAF with Benefaction Foundation, the your charity increases opportunities to maximizing income while reducing investment and other costs; you are relieved of the internal accounting and reporting required as periodic statements on principal and income status are provided by the Foundation; and we provide an annual audit performed by PriceWaterhouseCoopers, our auditors, as part of Benefaction Foundation’s regular audit procedure.

Benefaction Foundation  also provides added reassurance to donors that their gifts will be held in perpetuity for exclusive use by the charitable organization or for a similar purpose should the charitable organization cease to exist.
